We offer a comprehensive service, including review and advice on lessor disclosure statements and lease drafts, and provide advice via videoconference.

Our legal advice sessions usually take between 60-90 minutes and we ensure you understand what you are reading, how it effects you now, and how it might effect you in the future (if things go wrong).

Whilst this might be your first time reading a lease document, rest assured we have read many many commercial leases before, and written many before too.
It is that knowledge and experience that you are paying for.
It’s easy to read the words, but it is a harder task to understand exactly what they might mean to you.
Legal Advice Report (Form 12)
A Retail Shop Lease is a specific type of lease when premises are covered by the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994.
If you are a proposed tenant of a retail shop lease, then we will also provide you with the with all of the legal advice required to comply with the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994.
We can then issue our Legal Advice Report (Form 12) for you to provide to the landlord before commencement of the lease.
What's Not Included in the Fixed Fee...
Financial Advice
We will not provide you (nor can we) provide any advice on the financial viability of the lease, your retail business, or your ability to meet the financial commitments of the lease.
You will also need to obtain a Financial Advice Report with respect to that financial advice.
If you do not have an accountant to provide such, we can refer you if requested.
Town Planning
We will not provide you with advice on town planning matters, or which licences, permits or otherwise might be required for your retail business.
Nor will we provide advice on building laws which may apply, or any statutory approvals which may be required.
If you do not have a town planner to provide such advice, we can refer you if requested.
Negotiations & Representation
Whilst we will be your lawyer to review your lease and provide you with legal advice, we do not generally represent you moving forward with your lease.
You can engage us further if you wish to do so, but additional fees will apply.
